Dow's biggest intraday drop ever

Have you seen film The Net? Not? And the stock news today?

The first news said, that the Dow index fell due to wrong reports from Greece. However the CNBC claims that a trader in Citibank mistyped million to billion, so he sold 1000-times more shares. The result was that the Dow index fell to 992.6.

Other news claimed, that it is only a system error of trading system, because the market makers simply became hidden.

In my opinion, it could have been an aimed attack to the trading system like in film The Net. We can only hope, that Sandra Bullock comes and she saves our money :) .

That was a day on stock markets on May 6,2010 , which wasn't really calm :) .

An interesting day of Commerzbank

Yes, I'm writing again about my favourite bank, which is Commerzbank.

I trusted to the CEO, that he turns his company in profit. He managed that as they revealed today. The price of Commerzbank shares run above 6€, which is more than 0,4€ gain from the opening price.

Mostani sétám alkalmával azonban próbáltam valami "különlegeset" lekapni, továbbá lusta is vagyok, végigsétáltam Prága egyik "főutcáján".

The Stock Markets Today - april 16, 2010

This week started the 1Q financial report's season. We had an acceptable Alcoa result, an excellent one from Intel and JPMorgan. On the other hand, Bank of America's report wasn't the best. They reported 25% profit drop. (Information got from Marketwatch).Naturally, the stock markets, especially the bank sector, reacted negatively. The main bank items lost from their price.

The price of some bank financial institutes.
Bank Of America Corporation (BAC)$18.73 (-0.75/-3.85%)
JPMorgan Chase & Co (JPM) $46.16(-1.65/-3.45%)
Commerzbank AG (CBK) 6.365€(-0.188/-2.87%) on XETRA; 6.379€ (-0.210/3.19%) on Frankfurt

Now, let's see the charts:

The Stock Markets Today - april 13, 2010

We have a trading day after Alcoa's 1Q financial report, which could be better.
On the other hand, Dow index fell only in the morning and finished the day at 11,019.42 (+13.45/+0.12%). In my opinion this was caused by some good news during trading day. For example the USA's import demand have risen, which can mean an economy recovery. What is more Intel reported rising sales.

Adobe vs. Apple

Two giants of the IT and can't settle on the conditions of using Flash technology. Yes, again the war between Adobe and Apple :) .

The Stock Markets Today

Stock markets gained on signs of economy recovery. DAX index gained 0,6% (around 6150 points). On the other hand, my favourite, the Commerzbank was the greatest loser, that declined -1.8%.

DAX index(intraday):

Commerzbank(intraday, xetra)

The Prague Stock Exchange was also optimistic, but one of its major components declined more than -2% (Komercni banka) , the index declined -0.52% to 1204.4 points.

The Orco Property Group can cause some surprise, because the major shareowners would like to fire Jean Francois Ott. Ott is the CEO and the founder of Orco. On the other hand, he couldn't face the problems and nowadays Orco has huge financial problems.

The minor shareholders may accept the CEO changing, what is more, Orco rose in the Prague Stock Exchange to 201.5 which means +0.8%.

What I follow

The Commerzbank

I think Commerzbank (cbk) is the most exciting share traded on Frankfurt Stock Exchange. I think it has a huge volatility and can be traded very well. Now the german state owns 25 percent of company +1 share.
There is the chart of its price during the last 1 year:

This was a little intro. I'm planning to write about this company in more details, but I have no time yet :D .

The next week ahead

I like the marketwatch videos about what they expect.

So this is one from them for Europe:
